The Maldives is soon going to be a home to world’s largest underwater restaurant.
Property of Hurawalhi Island Resort which is all set to open in November, this underwater restaurant will be called “5.8 Undersea Restaurant”.

The restaurant has capacity to accommodate 16 guests at a time and it will allow diners to take in their marine surroundings through a transparent, domed ceiling. This unusual dining destination is set 5.8 meters below the lagoon.
This is second underwater restaurant in the Maldives, the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort being the first. Ithaa opened in 2005. The destination also features the world’s first underwater spa.
The Hurawalhi restaurant is designed by the same architects MJ Murphy, who worked for Ithaa. He specialises in aquarium design.
Built in New Zealand over 10 months, the 410-tonne megastructure traveled to the Maldives by cargo ship.
Executive chef Shannon Batten will be taking care of the cuisine of the restaurant. New Zealander based chef has cooked for Bill Clinton, the British royals, Rod Stewart, Bob Geldof, Neil Young, and the Rolling Stones, to name a few.
Located in the Lhaviyani Atoll, Hurawalhi Island Resort and Spa features 90 villas that come with modern conveniences.
